Just a quick update – not much new to report about my house and its status. As reported before, the Forest Ranger for my district personally confirmed that my cabin is one of the few left standing in Big T. I guesstimate that better than 3/4 of my neighbors lost their homes. What remains unknown is the condition of the structure, the amount of fire damage, etc.
I still can’t get into the canyon to find out more about my house because the fires are still burning in the foothills of La Cañada, La Crescenta and now Tujunga. Mom was evacuated from Tujunga this afternoon, and in her panic couldn’t get a hold of me, so she’s staying at a friend’s, too. I’ll spin by her place on my way back to my uncle’s in Simi to find out how bad things are. With any luck she will be able to go home tonight or tomorrow.
Speaking of Uncle Herb and Aunt Lory, they very graciously let me run to their place when I fled the fire. (Remind me to tell you about how much these two have helped me whenever I have called for help! Can I elect them for sainthood???) Unfortunately, they are leaving on a long-planned and well deserved vacation this Wednesday. Rather than impose further on their good will, I will be relocating to a friend’s house in Burbank. Jean and Lenny have an extra bedroom and a yard where the dogs can play. Part of today’s adventures involved getting their back gate fixed and making sure the yard is dog-proof. That mission has been accomplished, and we’ll finish getting me and the dogs resettled tomorrow.
For those of you recently added to my update list, I’ve been posting to my Facebook page and my personal blog because it’s the only practical way to keep everyone updated. (See links below.) Even then, a bunch of folks slipped through the cracks, and for that I most sincerely apologize.
If you are not already a Friend on Facebook, the link is below. Send a friend request and I will grant it as soon as possible. And if you know that I’ve let someone else slip through the cracks, please forward this message and/or any other contact information. I forwarded my home phone to my cell before I left the house, so my phone and e-mail information remains unchanged.
Once again, I want to thank everyone for their love, their concern, and their prayers. I cannot express how grateful I am, nor how blessed I am to have such loving friends and family.
More as it becomes available…

Hope your doing ok. From what I’ve seen in the news about a 3d of the Angeles National Forrest has gone up in smoke. Even if your house did make it I hope you consider what the canyon is going to go through when the rains come this winter. IF they come that is. Let me know how your doing Bromwen. If you need to start a save Bromwen fund I can help out.
