Reference Links for Digital Photography
Digital photography can be overwhelming for non-geeks. Fortunately, there are tons of excellent references available online to help get you off and running in no time! To help with this process, here are a few of my favorite links.
- PCPhoto Magazine
http://www.pcphotomag.com/
Online and on newsstands, PCPhoto is the top digital photography magazine. Get the latest news, equipment reviews and previews, photography tips and more. I use a lot of their articles as handouts for my introductory class on digital
photography.
- CNET.com Digital Camera Reviews
http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/ CNET manages to strike a nice balance between technical detail and readable English, which is quite a feat, IMO! Their Digital Camera Buying Guide is one of the most useful introductory overviews of important questions (and answers!) a newbie needs to know before investing a lot of money in a new digicam.
- Taking your pictures is only part of the story. Just as film photographers need film, digital photographers need flash cards! Crucial Technology has a wonderful online tool that will help you find the cards you need and choose between options in file storage and read/write speed. Crucial is also a good place to get a flash card reader so you can get your pictures to your computer, and from there turn them into coffee mugs, mouse pads and greeting cards!
If you like having a more complete reference handy, I can also recommend these books to help you learn more about your new hobby / addiction.
Enjoy!

I must admit, there is alot more to professional photography than people think. To get that perfect shot means you first need to get the perfect light. If you havent’t got that, then you could try creating this in photoshop. Although that is hard work. I have tried both film photography and digital photography, and i must admit, although i did enjoy being in the darkroom, there is alot of trial and error as well as expense involved in film photography! Together with Photoshop there are endless ways of creating fantastic pictures.
